David joined AFK as Chief Executive in February 2021. Over his career, he has implemented growth and change strategies for a variety of charities, both as Chief Executive and as a consultant. Most recently he was Chief Executive of the Fairbanking Foundation. Prior to that David was Interim CEO of WAGGGS, the global movement for Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting and Executive Director of Abbeyfield International (independent living and care homes provider), Director General of the International Psychoanalytical Association, and Executive Director of Orbis (blindness prevention organisation). Here he led the organisational transition from ‘Flying Eye Hospital’ to land-based blindness prevention programmes.
David has worked with disability previously, working on the introduction of communal housing for young people at Abbeyfield International and a change management programme at the National Austistic Society among other causes. David is passionate about supporting young people to live independent, fulfilling lives.
