On a Monday evening, 40 guests gathered at Les 2 Garçons to savor a sumptuous four-course meal, all in the name of raising vital funds. Les 2 Garçons generously offered both their venue and covered the expenses for food and staffing, ensuring that 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales went directly to the charitable cause.
Fine art photographer Allan Jenkins exhibited his captivating artwork throughout the restaurant. What’s more, 20% of the sales from these artistic creations were donated to AFK, making the evening a comprehensive celebration of art, gastronomy, and philanthropy.
The evening began with a drinks reception, sponsored by Champagne and Chateaux Ltd, accompanied by a selection of delectable amuse-bouchées, setting the stage for a memorable event.
The CEO of AFK addressed the audience, shedding light on the importance of our work and the positive impact it has on children and young people with disabilities and autism. The microphone was then passed to the evening’s host and prominent supporter, Christopher Holder, who shared heartfelt sentiments about why he champions our cause.
The guests were treated to a delectable menu featuring mixed entrees, Boeuf en Croute, Pear Tarte Tatin, and a mouth-watering raspberry soufflé. In the spirit of giving, the evening also featured a lighthearted game of heads and tails, led by the charismatic Les 2 Garçons Maître d, JC.
Combined with generous donations and a silent auction, the event successfully raised an impressive £8000 for AFK’s essential work.
David Coe, CEO of AFK, expressed his gratitude, stating, “We at AFK were absolutely thrilled to be invited by Les 2 Garçons for a truly enjoyable charity evening featuring exceptional food and camaraderie. Our heartfelt thanks go to Christopher Holder for hosting, as well as to Jan Reid, Claire Lewis, and the entire staff at Les 2 Garçons for their culinary expertise and hospitality.”
Christopher Holder, the evening’s host and dedicated advocate for AFK, shared his perspective, saying, “Since becoming involved with AFK in 2012, through MariaMarina Foundation, we have funded 111 items of life-changing mobility equipment and equipped hundreds of young people with the skills and confidence to enter the workforce. I wish the charity continued success in their tireless efforts to assist those in need. The work they do is undeniably impactful and indispensable in today’s society.”
This heartwarming charity dinner underscores the potential of combining life’s pleasures with the joy of giving back to the community. Here’s to more initiatives that unite the pleasures of life with the satisfaction of contributing to the well-being of those who need support. We raise our glasses to Les 2 Garçons and AFK for creating an unforgettable evening filled with love, laughter, and gourmet cuisine.
We’d also like to thank Mulberry, Arena Racing, Boisdale, BBC Maestro, Louis XIII Cognac and Cosprop for their donations of lots for the auction.
